Jay has been around horses, even before he could walk when his great-uncle put him on a horse. As a child, he qualified ponies for Devon. Jay has been taught by Marilyn Christ, Bill Duffy, Lodi Brodnicks, and Frank Chapot; and recently he worked with Bernie Traurig. Jay was brought up with green horses, with the idea of training them and bringing out their best qualities. He started working with thoroughbreds at a young age; and over the years he has developed a unique program to introduce thoroughbreds into their new careers as hunter, jumper, and/or pleasure horses.
Jay believes in teaching, not instructing, his riders and to mold their horses to be the best they can be and put them on the right path. The art of riding is to have the rider and horse become one. It is Jay’s belief to match horse and rider so it is a good fit for both.
